Etang de Planchon’s twenty-first week saw Lewis Kerrigan, from Preston, return for a second visit, this time with his dad (Paul), his uncle (Craig) and his mate (Chris Birchall). Lewis’ mum and aunt also came and stayed in the Gite.

The temperatures soared this week and topped out around 41 degrees, the pressure was high and the majority of the fish decided to show themselves over night. Despite the heat and pressure between the 4 of them they caught 42 carp totalling just over 900 lb.

Lewis opted for the swim he finished on last year (Harrier), he was hoping to repeat his 30 lb catch last year and wanted to beat it.
He fished Trigga (lake specials) on their own or topped with fake corn. Unlike the rest of the group most of the carp that landed to Lewis came out during the day, he ended the week with the most carp and the biggest.
Lewis caught 14 carp totalling 295 lb 15 oz, he landed 2 30’s and his biggest was 35 lb 4 oz.

Paul opted for Buzzard, he fancied the dam wall and monk. All but one of Paul’s carp came in the hours of darkness. He fished Trigga (lake specials) as singles, doubles or topped with fake corn.
He landed himself 11 carp over the week but a 30 eluded him, his biggest weighed in at 27 lb.

Chris fished Harrier for the week and had a slow start to the week. He fished Trigga (lake specials) on their own or topped with different coloured fake corn. Despite his slow start he managed land 9 fish over the week, one of which was a 30 and the second largest of the week weighing in at 34 lb.

Craig drove to the lake and arrived after the other 3 had set up, he opted for Owl. All but 2 of his carp came during the hours of darkness and half of his catches were commons. He fished Mainline cell for the week. Craig landed 8 fish over the week with his biggest being 26 lb 8 oz, unfortunately a 30 eluded him as well.

They all plan to return but they would prefer a cooler time of the year.

Of the 42 carp landed there was 3 x 30’s & 22 x 20’s (of which 3 were upper 20’s)

The top fish for the week were: 35.4 lb, 34 lb & 30.10 lb Common.

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s twenty-second week saw 2 groups of two drive to the lake. Barry Mead and his father-in-law, Alan Spearing, arrived early in the morning for breakfast and Andrew Jones and his son David arrived mid afternoon.

The temperatures had cooled a little from the previous week but the pressure was still high and there was no sign of any rain. The carp were still being landed during the hours of darkness more than during daylight hours.
Between the 4 of them they caught 31 carp totalling just over 700 lb.

Barry & Alan started their week with a hearty breakfast before they went off to set up on the left side of the lake.
They had brought various un-prepared particles with them that they were going to prepare onsite so we could verify it was prepared correctly. The mix was prepared properly but unfortunately was not overly successful for them and Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn seemed to do the business again over beds of pellet or with just a few freebie boilies scattered around.

Alan fished Hawk for the week and landed himself 7 carp over the week, a 30 eluded him and his biggest for the week was 28 lb 12 oz.
Barry started in Kestrel and moved to Buzzard mid week, he landed himself 4 carp over the week and his biggest was 24 lb.
They both plan on returning next year to improve on this.

Andrew & David had the right of the lake and started the week in Falcon and Harrier.
David started showing his dad how to catch fish and managed to land more than his dad over the week.
Andrew soon put a stop to that when he went on to land himself 3 x 30’s over the week.
Andrew started in Harrier for the week and had a quiet couple of days until his first fish out was his biggest for the week at 31 lb 6 oz, he then decided to move to Owl and he finished his week with 9 carp, 3 of which were 30’s.
He caught on Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn or half a yellow pop up.

David finished his week with 11 carp, his biggest was 29 lb, he fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn.
Andrew & David plan to return next year.

Of the 31 carp landed there was 3 x 30’s & 21 x 20’s (of which 5 were upper 20’s)

The top fish for the week were: 31.6 lb, 30.4 lb Common & 30 lb Common.

The group that arrived yesterday are here for a fortnight so the next catch report will be posted in two weeks.

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s twenty-third & twenty-fourth weeks saw 4 anglers and 1 guest return for their second visit. Last year, John & Shirley Hawkins, Steve Skillin & Trevor & Jenni Horne from the Happy Hookers forum graced our banks for a week and this year they came for two.

The temperatures were up and down, warm during they day, fresh during the night, the pressure was still high and there was still no sign of any rain.
Between the 4 of them they caught 51 carp totalling just over 1200 lb.

During the fishing, all the guys spent 4-5 hours a day socialising at the house over breakfast & dinner, Steve usually only fished one rod overnight if he fished at all and they all took a day out to do some sightseeing.

John & Shirley fished Kestrel for the duration, John fished the end of the lake and Shirley fished the middle.
They both fished a mix of Premier baits and Aqua dynamix, a few of their catches also landed to Trigga (lake specials)
John landed himself 15 fish over the week totalling 357 lb 8 oz, 3 of which were 30’s and his biggest being 36 lb 4 oz.
Shirley also landed 15 fish over the week totalling 365 lb 8 oz, 2 of which were also 30’s and her biggest was 31 lb 14 oz.

Trevor fished Harrier and had the whole right side of the lake to himself.
He fished mainly premier quad on it’s own or topped with fake corn, also he caught on Matrix peach & black pepper and his biggest fish fell to a few pieces of fake corn.
Trevor landed 14 fish totalling 340 lb 8 oz, his biggest being 31 lb.

Steve fished Buzzard, he fished Matrix on it’s own topped with fake corn or Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn.
He landed himself 7 fish totalling 164 lb 2 oz, his biggest was 27 lb 4 oz.

It was good to see them all back again and hope to see them again soon.

Of the 51 carp landed there was 6 x 30’s & 40 x 20’s (of which 13 were upper 20’s)

The top 5 fish for the week were: 36.4 lb, 31.14 lb, 31.8 lb, 31 lb & 30lb.

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s twenty-fifth week saw 5 anglers arrive. Ashley Unwin (from Wiltshire), Stephen Gennery (from Oxfordshire) & Neil Harborne (from West Midlands) all came on their own and Richard (Dickie) & Andy Hodges (from Kent) drove down.
All the lads got on really well and there was plenty of banter flying around all week.

The pressure stayed high for the week and despite the threat of a good downpour there was hardly any rain. This made the fishing particularly difficult for the week.
Between the 5 of them they caught 33 carp totalling over 700 lb.

Ashley fished buzzard for the week and caught the majority of his fish along the dam wall adjacent to the monk, he caught all but 1 of his fish on a Cell snowman with 1 landing to Trigga & fake corn.
He landed himself 9 fish over the week totalling 202 lb 10 oz, with his biggest being 29 lb 8 oz.
Ashley would have had 10 but he left Neil to guard his rods while he went to the angler’s area and one of his rods screamed off, he returned to see it being played but he told Neil to have it.

Stephen fished in Hawk for the week, Stephen was the first to catch over the week but then his week slowed down and had a few days between catches, where he was busy playing “Net boy” for Neil & Ashley. He did manage to land the biggest fish over the week so it was worth the wait when it weighed in at 35 lb 2 oz.
He landed 6 fish over the week totalling 139 lb. He fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with white, green, yellow or pink corn.

Neil fished Kestrel over the week, he started his week with Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn, as the week was slow he thought he would try the Vortex & Rosehip topped with half a yellow pop up. This caught him his next 5 fish.
He landed 7 fish over the week totalling 153 lb 12 oz, his biggest being 27 lb 8 oz which was his new PB.

Andy & Dickie fished the right side of the lake and opted for Owl & Falcon.
Andy fished Owl and used Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn, there was a bit of rivalry between him and his dad (Dickie) so he was happy he kicked off his week before his dad did.
He landed himself 7 fish for the week totalling 147 lb, his biggest being 23 lb 8 oz, a new PB for Andy.

Dickie fished falcon and had the slowest week out of all the guys. He was happy though to have bagged himself a new pb common & mirror.
He also fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn.
Dickie landed 4 fish for the week totalling 81 lb 4 oz, his biggest being 22 lb 4 oz.

Of the 33 carp landed there was 1 x 30’s & 20 x 20’s (of which 4 were upper 20’s)

The top fish for the week were: 35.2 lb, 29.8 lb & 27.8 lb.

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s twenty-sixth week saw 4 anglers arrive. Ross Clarke from Lincolnshire (on his second visit but for 2 weeks this time) and Jayde-Lee Holt, Colin Raggett & Mark Salmon from Lancashire (on their first visit to France for fishing).

Finally the pressure had dropped and there was rain (much needed rain).
The change in weather definitely made a difference to the fishing, between the 4 of them they caught 61 carp totalling over 1400 lb.

Ross arrived Saturday (a day before the other 3) and started fishing in Falcon, over the week he moved to Owl and then back to Falcon. He was hoping to land himself 5 30’s over the 2 weeks he was here.
Ross fished Trigga (lake specials) or Mistral Rosehip topped with fake corn or a tutti fruitti pop up.
He landed himself 34 fish on his first week totalling 786 lb 4 oz, amongst which were 4 of the 30’s he was looking for with his biggest being 36 lb 10 oz.

Jayde & Colin fished a double swim, Kestrel, over the week.
Jayde came to France with a UK PB carp of 4 lb, caught on a float rod. She was looking forward to landing some bigger fish over the week. Ideally starting low and working up to the bigger fish would have been the way to go but it was not to be as Jayde’s first fish weighed in at 36 lb 10 oz, her fifth fish was 36 lb 14 oz and ended up being the biggest of the week.
Jayde fished Trigga (lake specials) or Rosehip topped with fake corn, she landed 6 fish over the week totalling 181 lb 8 oz, 2 of which were 30’s.

Colin fished side by side with Jayde, he matched Jayde fish for fish but the bigger ones seemed to be landing to Jayde.
Colin fished Trigga (lake specials) & Rosehip topped with fake corn and also landed 6 fish over the week totalling 130 lb 1 oz. His biggest for the week was 25 lb 14 oz.

Mark fished Buzzard and was looking to land himself a 30 before he left, he fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn.
It was early evening for Mark’s first fish and he was in sandals and a t-shirt, the fish gave him a good run and he was playing it for 20 minutes, during which the heavens opened so he was totally soaked by the time it was in the net.
He landed himself 15 fish over the week totalling 314 lb, his last fish was his 30 weighing in at 32 lb 12 oz.

Ross got on well with Jayde, Colin & Mark and there was plenty of banter flying around. Ross, Colin & Mark have already booked up to come back together next October.

Of the 61 carp landed there was 7 x 30’s & 33 x 20’s (of which 9 were upper 20’s)

The top 5 fish for the week were: 36.14 lb, 2 x 36.10 lb, 33.4 lb & 32.12 lb.

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s twenty-seventh week saw Ross Clarke from Lincolnshire continue fishing for a second week (he was joined by his wife Carrie as a non fishing guest), it also saw the arrival of 2 guys from Kent, Bob Sutton & John Harbud (on their first visit to France for fishing).

After the previous week of rain and low pressure which turned the lake back on after a long dry spell, the rain disappeared leaving just the occasional drizzle and the pressure shot up again. It seems that after the previous week being quite busy and a rise in pressure, the lake went quiet again, between the 3 of them they caught 19 carp totalling over 400 lb.

Ross continued into his second week hoping to catch his fifth 30 over the 2 weeks, he had caught four the previous week but the fifth escaped him this week.
Ross continued to fish Trigga (lake specials) or Mistral Rosehip topped with fake corn.
He landed himself 11 fish on his second week totalling 235 lb 14 oz, technically 1 of his carp should be attributed to his wife Carrie who joined him for his second week as a non fishing guest. Whilst Ross had come up to the main house, leaving Carrie to guard his rods, he had a take that Carrie landed for him weighing in at 17 lb 5 oz. His biggest for the second week was a 26 lb 4 oz common.
His total catch for the 2 weeks was 45 carp totalling 1022 lb 2 oz, amongst which there was four 30’s with the biggest being 36 lb 10 oz.

Bob & John drove down and arrived Sunday, John was not a fisherman but joined Bob on this trip so Bob would have a fishing partner.
John did not fish nights and Bob only fished 2 nights, they also took 1 day out sightseeing.
Bob & John fished Buzzard & Hawk and fished Trigga (lake specials) & Rosehip boilies topped with fake corn.
Between the two of them they landed 8 fish totalling 171 lb 8 oz, their biggest being 25 lb 10 oz common & 24 lb 6 oz.

Of the 19 carp landed there was 13 x 20’s (of which 3 were upper 20’s)

The top fish for the week were: 26.4 lb common, 26.2 lb common, 25.10 lb & 24.6 lb.

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s twenty-eighth week saw two guys from Norwich (Lee Beckham & Colin Brzeczek) arrive for their first carp fishing trip to France, it also saw the arrival of John Wynne on his third visit with his mate Scott Welby.

This weeks’ weather was almost perfect for fishing but the fish did not play ball all week and the right side of the lake performed better than the left. Between the 4 of them they caught 28 carp totalling over 640 lb.

Lee & Colin arrived on Saturday and were here for 6 days.
Lee opted for Harrier and opted to try Rosehip over Trigga (lake specials). His week started slow and peeked on Wednesday with his most catches in one day and his biggest.
Lee landed all but one of his fish on Rosehip topped with fake corn, with one landing to Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn.
Lee landed 13 carp over the week totalling 303 lb 15 oz, 1 of which was over 30 lb weighing in at 30 lb 8 oz.

Colin fished Owl over the week and started his week off with his second biggest fish over the week.
Most of his catches were also caught on Rosehip topped with fake corn with 2 of his carp landing to Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn.
Lee landed 9 carp over the week but a 30 eluded him with his biggest weighing in at 28 lb 12 oz.

John arrived on Sunday and was here for 5 days, when he arrived he was happy to see Buzzard was not taken and opted for that while Scott went next to him in Hawk.
The left side of the lake was slower than the right, John and Scott started the week using Trigga topped with fake corn. John’s last two fish, including his biggest, fell to Dynamite fresh squid, Octopus & Black Pepper.
Between them they landed 6 carp totalling 132 lb 14 oz, with John landing the only 30 between them weighing in at 30 lb 4 oz.
John has already booked for the opening week of 2013.

Of the 28 carp landed there were 2 x 30’s, 19 x 20’s (of which 7 were upper 20’s)

The top fish for the week were: 30.8 lb, 30.4 lb, 29.7 lb & 28.12 lb.

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s twenty-ninth week saw the arrival of Drew Harvey & his son Cole from Sheffield, Daniel Kelly from Worcester Park & Tom Mason and his girlfriend Natalie from Dorset.
The guys didn’t know each other when they arrived but over the week they got on so well they are coming back as a group next September.
Also David Morley came for a days fishing, it was his second time here.

This week’s weather was a mixed bag of sunshine (briefly) followed by rain, then some more rain, a little sun and then some rain.
Between the four anglers here for the week they managed to land 51 carp totalling over 1200 lb.
David added two carp to this totalling 48 lb.

Drew & Cole arrived first on Saturday and needed a double swim as Cole was only 12, they opted for Kestrel. Their catches were slow to kick off but once they started topping their boilies with fake corn and putting out beds of pellet, hemp & maize their catch rate started going up.
They fished Nutrabaits BFM, Salmon, Caviar & black pepper boilies, all but 2 of their fish landed to this topped with fake corn. The other two fish were landed on Dynamite fresh squid, Octopus & Black Pepper and Mistral Rosehip, both topped with fake corn.
Between them they landed 13 carp totalling 297 lb, Drew’s biggest was 27 lb 4 oz and Cole’s was 27 lb. They both went away having beaten their UK PB’s.

Danny arrived next, Saturday afternoon and opted for Buzzard at the dam wall. He caught steadily over the week trying Mistral Rosehip and Frank Warwick “the Relish” boilies.
He was looking to land himself a 30 and he was not disappointed, his second to last fish was a 31 lb 6 oz common.
He landed himself 14 fish over the week totalling 336 lb, all but one fell to Rosehip topped with fake corn, his other fish was caught on The Relish boilie topped with fake corn. He had also been laying out beds of pellet hemp & maize.

Tom arrived on Sunday and decided to fish in Harrier, he had half the lake to himself as the other guys were on the opposite side of the lake. He was looking to break his UK PB, he smashed it with his first carp when it weighed in at 37 lb 4 oz.
His catches were on a mixed bag of boilies. He used Nutrabaits BFM, Salmon, Caviar & black pepper, Mistral Rosehip and Dynamite fresh squid, Octopus & Black Pepper. All but 2 of his boilies were topped with fake corn, the other two were topped with red pop ups. He was also putting out beds of Pellet, Hemp & maize.
Tom caught 24 carp over the week totalling 589 lb 13 oz, three of which were 3’s with his biggest being his first fish.

David Morley has a holiday home in Chateauponsac and decided while he was here to pop in for a days fishing, he was looking to catch a bigger carp than his last visit.
He landed himself two fish during the day, each one beating his previous PB here & in the UK.
He landed himself a 23 lb 12 oz and a 24 lb 4 oz.
Both were caught on Strawberry boilies, one topped with fake corn and the other topped with a tutti frutti pop up.

Of the 53 carp landed there were 4 x 30’s, 43 x 20’s (of which 16 were upper 20’s)

The top fish for the week were: 37.4 lb, 32.8 lb, 32.6 lb & 31.6 lb Common.

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

PostSubject: Week 30 - final week of season 2   Etang de Planchon - 2012 - Page 2 Icon_minitimeSun Oct 28, 2012 8:18 pm

Etang de Planchon’s thirtieth and final week of season 2 saw the arrival of Andy & Sam Lane (with their family) arrive for their sixth visit and Lee Evans & Mike Jones (with his son Liam) arrive for their second visit.
Being the last week of the season there will be no more catch reports until next April, but watch out for a few updates and news letters of the work that will be going on over the winter.

This week’s weather started a little wet but the sun soon arrived and then there were visible signs of temperatures starting to drop for the cold snap expected next week.
Between the four anglers here for the week they managed to land 91 carp totalling over 2250 lb.

Andy and Sam arrived on Sunday and they were here until Friday, initially they were coming on their own but as the Gite was vacant, Andy decided to bring his whole family for their second visit. He said it’s nice to have his whole family with him but I am sure he enjoyed having a few gophers with him to fetch stuff for him.
Andy opted for Falcon, unfortunately we had no Trigga lake specials left so Andy decided to fish Rosehip and fake corn as this had been doing well over the last few weeks. The plan was that Sam would fish Owl during the day but bring 1 rod and fish with Andy in Falcon over night, due to a late afternoon flight Andy & Sam decided on fishing in Falcon the first night and setting Sam up in Owl the next day. The first night was very productive, they started after their evening meal and landed 6 fish up to breakfast the next morning.
Andy chased a 30 all week but unfortunately the only 1 that came to his swim ended up being landed by Sam. Andy had 22 carp totalling 532 lb, his biggest over the week was a lovely 28 lb 12 oz common.
Sam fished Owl during the days and was with his dad at night, he too fished Rosehip and fake corn.
Also 2 nights in the week neither of them fished as they had the luxury of going to sleep in the Gite if they were too tired. Sam landed himself 19 carp totalling 488 lb 10 oz, although his dad beat him on numbers he did land the biggest fish over the week. He had 4 x 30’s over the week with the biggest weighing in at 32 lb 4 oz.

Lee Evans & Mike Jones arrived on Monday and were also only fishing until Friday, Lee opted for Hawk and Mike wanted a double as he had his son Liam was here as a guest, he chose Kestrel.
Their previous visit didn’t produce any 30’s so they were looking to land one this trip.
Lee fished Rosehip topped with fake corn or fake tiger nut pop ups, his first 24 hours produced more fish than his previous visit.
Lee landed himself 24 carp totalling 590 lb 4 oz, he landed himself four 30’s with 1 of them being the biggest out of the group for the week weighing in at 37 lb.
Mike also fished Rosehip topped with fake corn, fake tiger nut & fake maggot. He also landed more fish than his previous visit. His total fish count was 26 carp totalling 604 lb 9 oz. He had three 30’s with his biggest being his first fish of the trip weighing 35 lb 14 oz.
Mike’s son Liam was here as a guest, Lee had mentioned previously that he likes to talk, we often heard him having a little sing song in welsh and Lee even turned his walkie talkie off sometimes so he could get some sleep. Liam was very helpful to the lads as he was always there to help land the fish, unless of course it was at night. One night Mike managed to run for a fish trip and pull up the back of the bivvy, not that it bothered Liam as he happily stayed asleep whilst with no bivvy above him, he didn’t believe the guys when they told him.

We were lucky that Lee got this photo because apparently he was in a lot of pain from laughing so hard from Mike’s accident.
