Etang de Planchon’s second season kicked off to a flying start with 105 fish being caught totalling over 2500 lbs of fish.

The lake record got broken twice and the first 40 graced the banks.

Sam Lane (13 yrs old) broke the lake record early in the week with an impressive 39 lb 13 ozs.
John Wynne broke the lake record a couple of days later with a 40 lb carp and is the current lake record holder.

The fish are well and truly on the munch ahead of spawning and the Trigga house specials were again doing the business alongside Sticky vortex.

The new season saw a difference to last year in that the larger fish were coming out on larger beds of bait as opposed to last years little & often approach.

Large beds of Hemp, Maize and pellet were drawing them in and Trigga (lake special) or sticky vortex topped with fake corn, or bright pop ups have been the downfall of the bigger fish so far.

Of the 105 carp caught, there was 1 x 40, 11 x 30’s & 80 x 20’s (of which 40 were upper 20’s).

The top 6 fish for the week were: 40 lb, 39 lb 13 oz, 38 lb 7 oz, 2 x 35 lb & 34 lb 14 oz.

Here are a few fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s second week of the season saw 6 rods produce 80 carp totalling over 1900 lbs of fish.

Tyler Ibbotson started his run on Friday and managed to break both his PB common and PB Mirror by the time he left.
Tyler’s biggest fish was a 37 lb 12 oz mirror caught on Trigga (lake special) and fake corn on a big bed of pellet and hemp.

Jake Turnbull (15 yrs old) was fishing two rods and his dad Mark was fishing with one.
Jake’s PB in the UK was 10 lb, he broke that with his first fish at 25 lb and then with his second fish managed to triple his UK PB with a 31 lb mirror.
Jake’s biggest fish for the week was a 34 lb 7 oz Mirror caught with double 15mm Trigga (lake special).

Mark Turnbull was fishing with 1 rod for the week and his biggest was 28 lb 10 oz mirror caught on Trigga (lake special) and fake green corn.

Of the 80 carp caught, there was 8 x 30’s & 65 x 20’s (of which 24 were upper 20’s).

The top 5 fish for the week were: 37 lb 12 oz, 35 lb 4 oz common, 34 lb 7oz, 32 lb 12 oz & 32 lb.

Here are a few fish from the week.

PostSubject: Week 4 & 5   Etang de Planchon - 2012 Icon_minitimeTue May 01, 2012 4:59 am

Etang de Planchon’s fourth week was again plagued by rain, but despite the weather 86 carp were banked totalling over 2000 lb of fish.

This week saw Graham Sharp and Lee Brackpool fish 7 days, Rob & Emma fish a long weekend and Johan Bonnefond fish for 24 hours.

Graham & Lee arrived at Etang de Planchon midst the bad weather that was hanging on from the previous week, the wind was still very gusty and they set up in Buzzard and Hawk.

Graham fished Trigga (lake specials) covered in Korda Goo and topped with fake corn over beds of hemp, maize and pellet.
He even decided to follow the wind for a couple of nights and move to Owl, after which he went back to Hawk.
Graham managed to land himself 34 carp, 5 of which were 30’s and his biggest a 33 lb mirror.

Lee stuck it out in Buzzard for the whole week and fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with green or yellow fake corn.
Lee landed himself 25 carp for the week of which 1 was a 30 and it weighed in at 37 lb 10 oz.

Johan Bonnefond lives in Limoges and came for a short 24 hours session, his third visit to the lake.
He landed himself 4 carp in the 24 hours, fishing with Trigga & fake corn. His biggest was 28 lb 12 oz.

Rob & Emma came for their second long weekend, this time Emma was hoping Rob would let her land a few of the carp they caught. Rob was looking for a 30 this time round as he didn’t manage to land one on their previous visit.
They fished mainly Trigga (lake specials) on its own or topped with fake corn, this was over a bed of pellet, between them they landed 23 fish (3 to Emma) 3 of which were 30’s and the biggest of which was 35 lb 1 oz.

Of the 86 carp caught, there was 9 x 30’s & 60 x 20’s (of which 33 were upper 20’s).

The top 5 fish for the week were: 37 lb 10 oz, 35 lb 1 oz, 34 lb 2oz common, 33 lb, & 32 lb.

There is no one on the lake now until Saturday so there will be no report for week 5.

Here are a few fish from the week.

PostSubject: Week 6   Etang de Planchon - 2012 Icon_minitimeMon May 14, 2012 5:06 am

Etang de Planchon’s sixth week was a busy one for the anglers, the weather has been warming up and the carp showed their appreciation by gracing the banks.
Between Tony Montero, Gary Smith & Des Smith (who only fished in the daylight) there were 113 fish caught totalling over 2600 lbs.

This week saw a bit of confusion when Tony, Des (Tony’s father-in-law) and Gary (Tony’s brother-in-law) arrived. As soon as they were picked up Des & Gary were calling Tony “Mark”, apparently it’s because his dad is also called Tony and it avoids confusion (we nearly got it right by the end of the week)

Tony (Mark) was in buzzard swim and he mainly fished Trigga (lake specials) with or without fake corn, it was over beds of particle or with a few freebie boilies. He also caught a few using vortex boilies and Mistral rosehip boilies.
Tony landed himself 46 carp, 5 of which were 30’s and his biggest was a 37 lb 11 0z mirror.

Des fished only daylight hours and had opted for Owl swim, he started his week using Tiger nut boilies, he caught over half of his carp on them and the rest were caught on Trigga (lake specials) or vortex both topped with fake corn. He also fished over particle and pellet.
Des landed himself 43 carp for the week, 1 of which was a 30 and his biggest was 36 lb 14 oz.

Gary fished Harrier swim and the wind was against him most of the week, he fished a combination of either Trigga (lake specials) or vortex with or without fake corn. He also fished over particle with some maize and pellet.
Gary landed himself 24 carp, 1 of which was a 30 and his biggest fish was 37 lb.

Of the 113 carp caught, there was 7 x 30’s & 95 x 20’s (of which 30 were upper 20’s).

The top 5 fish for the week were: 37 lb 11 oz, 37 lb, 36 lb 14oz, 33 lb 10 oz, & 33 lb 1 oz.

Thanks guys for a cracking week.

Here are a few fish from the week.

Well Kiran, another bumper week there at Etandg de Planchon, especially with the poor weather hitting France, with a number of lakes in France reporting some slow catch rates compared to this time in previous years, mainly down to the weather.

Your guests are being well spoiled this year so far, keep up the good work. your reports are a pleasure to read. Very Happy

cheers

It's definitely a confusing time for the carp with the weather being so up and down at the moment.

It's nice to see the carp still playing ball and the anglers are catching, just waiting for them to spawn now.

PostSubject: Week 7   Etang de Planchon - 2012 Icon_minitimeMon May 21, 2012 1:12 am

Etang de Planchon’s seventh week started with high pressure and temperatures that were up and down, -3 degrees one night, so there was a slow start to the catches.
Initially there were 2 guys fishing the lake, Anthony Smith and Sean Barrett. Sean had his twin brother (Connor) with him, but his brother wasn’t planning on fishing, that was until Sean pulled his first 30 out. Connor decided to pay for fishing and hired a 1 rod setup and join his brother in catching.

Tony started his week in Owl swim, he only fished one night and spent the rest of the nights in the Gite with his wife (Shirley). Tony moved between swims during his week and landed fish in Owl, Harrier & Buzzard swims.
Tony fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn. A couple of fish landed to Trigga (lake specials) topped with half a pop up and he also landed a couple of fish on 3 bits of fake corn (an idea he got from the boys below).
Tony landed himself 17 fish, 2 of which were 30’s and the biggest was 38 lb 10 oz.

Sean & Conner were fishing in Kestrel and the fished mainly Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn. Towards the end of the week they tried fishing 3 bits of fake corn and no boilie, this also caught them a couple of fish.
Sean landed himself 22 fish, 4 of which were 30’s and the biggest was 37 lb 12 oz.
Connor landed himself 10 fish, 3 of which were 30’s and the biggest was 34 lb.

Between the 3 of them (7 rods) they managed to land 49 carp totalling over 1100 lbs of fish.

Of the 49 carp caught, there was 9 x 30’s & 29 x 20’s (of which 8 were upper 20’s).

The top 5 fish for the week were: 38 lb 10 oz, 37 lb 12 oz, 34 lb, 33 lb 6 oz, & 33 lb 3 oz.

Here are a few fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s eighth week saw the arrival of Arthur Hudson (aka Rob) having the lake to himself for the week.

Arthur’s first couple of days started off slow, only landing 2 carp, but that soon picked up.
Apart from day 1 Arthur fished Kestrel swim and tried various baits. Throughout the week he tried Trigga (lake specials) on their own or topped with faked corn, halibut boilie or a Tuna / Chilli pop up, he also tried Vortex, fake corn on it’s own and pineapple pop ups on their own.

Arthur landed himself 26 fish over the week with his biggest being a 32 lb 6 oz mirror.

Of the 26 carp, there was 1 x 30 & 19 20’s (of which 3 were upper 20’s)

Here are a couple of fish from the week.

Hi Grandad,

sorry to hear that you have taken that decision, I respect your views and opinions for your reasons.

However, for your info, Kiran, who runs Etang de Planchon, prior to posting these reports, has asked, and been given the forums full permission to place these full reports.

I for one, find them interesting to see how the fishing is getting on, others, like yourself may not be interested, that is your choice.

I hope you reconsider your decision.

Hi Grandad,

I am sorry that my catch reports are not to your liking.

I guess it's not something that everyone wants to read which is why there is a "foreign" catch reports section on this forum so that people who are interested can find them.

Etang de Planchon’s ninth week saw the arrival of Paul Fernley and Gordon Stapley, it also saw some signs that the carp may spawn, but they never did.

The first day was very busy for the guys and they landed 7 carp between them in 6 hours, then the lake quietened for a day.
Between them they ended up with 37 carp for the week totalling just under 1000 lb of fish.

Paul fished in Buzzard for the week and caught all of his fish with Trigga (lake specials), all but 2 of which were topped with fake corn.
Paul landed himself 21 fish over the week, 2 of which were 30’s, with his biggest being a 35lb mirror.

Gordon fished in Hawk for the week and 12 of his 16 carp were caught on Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn, while the other 4 were caught on a cell pop up topped with fake corn.
Gordon landed himself 16 fish for the week, 4 of which were 30’s, with his biggest being 38 lb 12 oz mirror.

Of the 37 carp, there was 6 x 30 & 29 20’s (of which 13 were upper 20’s)

I’d just like to say thanks to the guys for keeping the animals entertained.

Here are a couple of fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s Tenth week saw the arrival of Andy & Sam Lane and the rest of Andy’s family, it also saw the arrival of Mick & Callum Hayes. Both groups were only fishing for 5 days.
There was also signs that some of the carp had spawned overnight, but nothing major compared to last year (still more to come I think)

Over the 5 days, both groups between them managed to land 94 carp totalling over 2000 lbs.

This was Andy & Sam’s fourth visit to the lake since it opened in March 2011.
On their previous visits Sam & Andy fished in the same swim, this visit Andy felt Sam was ready to fish his own swim and he could introduce the rest of his family to French carp fishing.

Between the 2 swims (3 rods in each) they managed to land 56 carp totalling over 1300 lb of fish.
Andy also let Ethan his youngest son land 8 of his carp and his daughters helped land a couple of others.
Team Andy fished Falcon and landed 39 carp in total (including 8 to Ethan and 2 to Yolanda) Andy’s biggest carp was 38 lb 6 oz, Ethan’s biggest was 33 lb 12 oz and Yolanda’s biggest was 27 lb 12 oz, 2 of the 39 carp were 30’s.
Andy stuck with the old faithful Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn, mega corn or mini yellow boilies. All of this on beds of pellet, hemp & maize.

Sam started his week in Harrier and them moved to Owl and landed himself 17 carp, 2 of which were 30’s. Sam also stuck with Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn or yellow pop ups. All of this on beds of pellet, hemp & maize. Sam’s biggest was 36 lb 8 oz.

Sam only fished one night and Andy didn’t fish two of the nights as he wanted to spend time with his family.

Father & son, Mick & Callum Haynes arrived the day after Andy and despite Callum being unwell from a bug he had brought with him from the UK they still managed to land 38 carp totalling over 900 lbs of fish.

Mick fished Kestrel for the 5 days and landed himself 24 carp, 4 of which were 30’s. He fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with different coloured corn or pink pepper pop ups, again all of this on beds of pellet, hemp & maize. Hi biggest was 34 lb 14 oz.

Callum fished between Kestrel and Hawk for the 5 days, despite being out of action for 2 days, he landed himself 14 carp, 1 of which was a 30. He fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with different coloured corn and again all of this on beds of pellet, hemp & maize. His biggest was 31 lb.

Of the 94 carp, there was 9 x 30 & 75 x 20’s (of which 28 were upper 20’s)

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s eleventh week saw the arrival of 6 guys from Cheshire. Karl D, Carl T, Clive, Ian, Stephen and Billy arrived on Sunday, they all fished with 2 rods except Ian who fished with 3 rods and only Ian fished nights.

This week also saw England’s first two Euro games and the guys decided they wanted to watch England v France in a local bar, it was a good night and the guys even managed to end up on French TV.
Check out our video diaries page to see the clip of the guys: www.carp-fishinginfrance.com/videos.htm

Later in the week they decided to watch the England and France game at the lake but asked me to invite the neighbours for a BBQ, let’s just say it was a good night and no one fished that night.

Over the week the guys managed to land 100 carp totalling over 2400 lbs.

Ian was in Buzzard and bagged up for the week, he fished all but 2 nights and landed himself 36 fish. He fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn over beds of pellet hemp & maize.
4 of his fish were 30’s and his biggest was 35 lb 6 oz.

Carl T & Karl D started in Kestrel.
Carl T stayed in Kestrel all week and started his week with a 32 lb 2 oz mirror, he landed himself 16 fish over the week, all falling to Trigga (lake specials) & fake corn.
4 of his fish were 30’s and his biggest was 38 lb 6 oz.

Karl D stayed in Kestrel all but 1 day, he decided to poach a few of Ian’s fish from Buzzard for a day.
He landed 13 fish over the week with his biggest being 28 lb 12 oz. He also fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn.

Clive started his week in Harrier with Billy, but moved half way through the week to Hawk.
He fished Trigga (lake specials) over beds of hemp, maize & pellet and landed himself 16 fish over the week.
2 of his fish were 30’s and his biggest was 33 lb 8 oz.

Stephen fished in Owl and his first catch was his biggest for the week at 30 lb 2 oz.
He fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn, he also landed a few fish with Tutti Fruitti boilies.
Stephen landed himself 15 fish over the week.

Billy fished in Harrier, Falcon and even had a go in Owl. His methods were the same as the rest of the group (apart from not using back leads), despite this he still only managed to land himself 4 fish for the week.
Billy’s biggest fish for the week was a lovely 30 lb common.

Of the 100 carp, there was 12 x 30 & 76 x 20’s (of which 23 were upper 20’s)

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s twelfth week saw the arrival of a father and 3 sons. Ted, Jon, Dan & Matt Luik arrived Sunday, only Jon fished nights and he only did 2 all week.

Ted, the father of the group likes to experiment and he tried various different things to catch his carp.
He spent a couple of days surface fishing with one of his rods, he tried a ball of worms and he even put out a chod rig, unfortunately to not much success, apart from 1 carp on the chod rig.

The weather for the week was very hot and the pressure was high, but despite that the 4 guys still managed to land 47 carp totalling over 1100 lb of fish.

Jon started in Owl for the week and swapped around with his dad and one of his brothers over the week.
He fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with Mega corn, squid pop ups or double fake corn over beds of pellet, hemp & maize or with just freebie boilies.
Jon landed 14 fish over the week, 1 of which was a 30 weighing in at 36 lb 8 oz.

Dan started in Buzzard and moved to Harrier and then Falcon over the week.
He fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn or with a Trigga pop up as a snowman, all this again over beds of pellet, hemp & maize.
Dan landed 13 fish over the week, 2 of which were 30’s and his biggest was 35 lb.

Matt started in Kestrel and moved to Owl and then Kestrel over the week.
He also fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn, mega corn, a Trigga pop up or a pink (fishy) pop up.
Matt landed 10 fish over the week, 1 of which was a 30 lb 1 oz common.

Ted had a slow start to the week in Kestrel and so he moved to buzzard and even managed to sneak a fish from Jon in Owl.
He fished Trigga (lake specials)or Robin red pellet, topped with fake corn, mega corn or a pop up of some description.
Ted also landed 10 fish over the week, 1 of which was a 30 weighing in at 33 lb 2 oz.

Of the 47 carp, there was 5 x 30’s & 32 x 20’s (of which 8 were upper 20’s)

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s thirteenth week saw the arrival of 6 lads from Preston. Wayne, Graham, Jimmy, Eddie, Peter and Gary all arrived on Sunday for 5 days fishing.
Half of the lads fished 2 rods all week and the other half used 3 rods towards the end of the week.

This week also saw some very high pressure and high temperatures reaching 35 degrees. Unfortunately for the lads this slowed up the fish bites, they still managed to land 37 fish between them totalling over 850 lbs of carp.

The lads fished Trigga (lake specials) and cell boilies, they topped them with fake corn, mega corn, and even fresh prawns, Gary even dipped his boilies in a bloodworm dip.
The majority of the lads fished on beds of hemp, pellet & maize.

The biggest 2 fish fell to Wayne and Eddie, Wayne landed the biggest of the week at 38 lb 8 oz and Eddie was not far behind with his 37 lb 12 oz catch.

Despite the slow fishing over the week, the lads enjoyed themselves so much they have already booked for April next year.

Of the 37 carp, there was 2 x 30’s & 30 x 20’s (of which 10 were upper 20’s)

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s fourteenth week saw the arrival of Raymond Loughran & David Palmer from Northampton and it also saw a return visit from Tom Suckling, Ian Dixon and Alex Dixon from Hertford.
The fishing this week was very slow and the fish were just not biting, was it the pressure? Was it the changing weather?... I don’t know.

The guys persisted and between the 4 people fishing they managed to land 32 fish totalling over 700 lb.

Despite the catches being slow there was a lot of banter and funny comments flying around all week.
Ian had us all in stitches telling us of tales of the fish hooking itself then jumping out the lake and extending its fin like a middle finger and spitting his boilies out.
He couldn’t quite get to grips with the words “back leads” and was calling them “back legs” all week, he also said he managed to a land a 46 lb carp but apparently couldn’t get hold of anyone to take a photo.
Towards the end of the week, he informed us over the walking talkie that he had been poaching (he meant stalking) and had just fallen out of a tree.
He topped it off by breaking the plastic chair he was sitting on and all that could be seen were his 2 legs sticking up in the doorway of his bivvy where he went flying back.
Check out Ian’s attempt of using the bait boat on our facebook page: Etang de Planchon Facebook page

This was the first time fishing in France for Raymond & David and between them they opted for Hawk & Buzzard, although later in the week David changed from Hawk to Kestrel.
All but one of their catches was on Trigga (lake specials) topped with whit fake corn, one catch was on DT baits N Blend topped with white fake corn.
David landed 8 fish for the week, 1 of which was the biggest for the week at 37 lb 6 oz.
Raymond landed 14 fish for the week 1 of which was 31 lb.

Tom and Ian started in Harrier but moved to Owl & Falcon mid week, they did not fish any nights.
Between them they landed 10 fish, not a patch on last years visit, they tried everything possible but the fish were just not having it.
Between the 2 of them the biggest was landed by Tom at 28 lb 6 oz.

All the guys on this week enjoyed themselves despite the slow fishing and are looking to return next year and improve on their catches.

Of the 32 carp, there was 2 x 30’s & 16 x 20’s (of which 6 were upper 20’s)

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s fifteenth week saw the arrival of 3 lads from Farnborough, Sam Bell, Theo McCusker & Lee Wilson.

After the last two weeks of fewer catches, I was waiting to see if the fish had livened up for these guys and the carp did not disappoint. The guys landed 47 fish between them totalling over 1100 lb of fish.

Sam Bell fished in Hawk for the week, he had the most fish for the week landing himself 24 carp totalling 542 lb 13 oz. He brought his own Trigga boilies tweaked with GLM, topped it with white fake corn. Four of his carp were caught on Trigga (lakes specials) topped with white fake corn. All his baits were fished over a bed of boilies and his biggest for the week was a 33 lb 6 oz mirror.

Lee Wilson fished in Buzzard for the week, he landed 18 carp for the week and they were all caught on Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn, all his baits were fished over a bed hemp, maize & pellet.
His biggest fish for the week was a 33 lb 4 oz mirror.

Theo McCusker started his week in Owl and moved midweek to be sociable with the other 2 lads, unfortunately for Theo when he moved the carp dried up. Even though his week was slow with him catching just 5 carp, he left a happy man having landed the 2 biggest fish for the week, both mirrors weighed in at 37 lb & 35 lb 4 oz.
His biggest fish was his first fish deciding to take his bait late evening during a heavy downpour.

The lads have already booked for next April and I look forward to seeing them all again.

Of the 47 carp, there was 4 x 30’s & 37 x 20’s (of which 10 were upper 20’s)

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s sixteenth week saw the arrival of 2 groups of 2, David & Nick Pinder, from Lancashire, arrived Friday and Richard and Adam Morecroft, from West Yorkshire, arrived Sunday.

There were a few showers in the week but mainly the weather was hot, reaching 31 degrees one day. The four guys between them managed to land 51 carp totalling over 1170 lb.

Nick & David fished on the left side of the lake, opting for Buzzard and Hawk.

Nick having been to France before let his dad have first choice of swims (Buzzard) and Nick opted for Hawk, a good choice as he landed himself 22 carp totalling 501 lb 8 oz.
Nick caught most of his fish on Trigga (lake specials) topped with white or yellow fake corn, a few of his carp also fell to tiger nuts, or Tiger nut and plum boilies.
Most of his baits were fished over balls made up of softened pellet, 2 of Nicks fish were over 30 lb with his biggest being 36lb.

David was a French novice and started his week by racing ahead of Nick, on their first full day David landed 6 carp to Nick’s 2. David ended his week behind Nick with 17 carp totalling 387 lb 9 oz.
David caught his fish on Trigga (lake specials), all but one was topped with white or yellow fake corn.
Again most of David’s baits were fished over balls made up of softened pellet, his biggest for the week was 26 lb 1 oz.

Richard & Adam fished directly opposite Nick and David but they unfortunately caught fewer carp. They were not disappointed though as they arrived with UK PB’s of 13 lb & 14 lb and doubled that by the end of the week.

Adam fished Falcon for the week and landed himself 8 carp totalling 184 lb 12 oz. The majority of his catches were on Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn, 2 of his catches were on cheese cubes topped with fake corn.
His last fish was caught out of Hawk when Nick left.
Most of his baits were over pellet, hemp & maize. His biggest for the week was 27 lb 8 oz.

Richard fished in Owl and fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn & pineapple dumbell.
Richard only managed to land 4 over the week totalling 96 lb 12 oz. Despite the low catch rate he was happy to walk away with a new PB of 31 lb 4 oz.

Nick & David have already booked again for next year and Richard and Adam plan on booking once they get home. Well done all and look forward to seeing you next year.

Of the 51 carp, there were 3 x 30’s & 39 x 20’s (of which 11 were upper 20’s)

The top fish for the week were: 36 lb 34 lb & 31.4 lb

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s seventeenth week saw the arrival of Mike Bingham, Dan Bingham & Les Horton from Birmingham.

The fishing was slow this week, the pressure was high and the temperatures hit 35 degrees.
The three guys between them lost 10 carp and landed 16 totalling just under 390 lb.

Mike fished Falcon, Les fished Owl and Dan fished Buzzard.
The three of them fished Trigga (Lake specials) topped with fake corn.

Because the week was slow, an experiment was tried mid week, a 25 kilo sack of pellet and a kilo of boilies was split between 3 spots (1 at each swim). They all fished 1 rod on the spot and it produced a few catches within a few hours. From this, two of Mike’s catches were 30’s.

Of the 16 carp, there were 2 x 30’s & 12 x 20’s (of which 1 was an upper 20)

The top fish for the week were: 37.10 lb & 33.14 lb

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s eighteenth week saw the arrival of Ian Smith & his 10 year old son Thomas from Royston, Lee Evans & Mike Jones from Anglesey and Kees Schilder from Lutjebroek, Holland.
Kees is here for 2 weeks so his catches & totals will appear in next weeks catch report.

Thomas only fished the days as his dad said he could sleep through a thunder storm. Between the 4 of them they managed to land 34 carp totalling just under 770 lb.

Ian fished Kestrel and Thomas fished Hawk during the days. The week was slow due to high pressure and warm temperatures but they both managed to break their UK PB’s . Ian’s second and third fish came in quick succession and so he told Thomas to take one while he dealt with the other.
Thomas had and interesting way of playing the fish with the rod between his legs, not something I would imagine he will continue to do as he gets older.
Thomas landed Ian’s third fish and it ended up being the biggest fish for the week weighing in at 36 lb. Ian’s biggest was 29 lb 12 oz.
Between them they landed 12 carp, they fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn or fluro pop ups.

Lee and Mike opted to fish either side of the dam wall by choosing Buzzard & Owl.
Lee’s week started off quicker than Mike’s and he landed 13 fish, his biggest being 29 lb. He fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with white or yellow fake corn, he also landed one fish with Cell topped with yellow corn.

Mike was getting a ribbing from Lee due to the slow start but Mike’s week picked up and he landed 9 fish with his biggest being 29 lb 8 oz, half a pound bigger than Lee’s.
He fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with yellow & white fake corn and also topped with red pop ups, he also landed 1 carp on cell topped with fake corn.

There were handful of misses over the week, of the 34 carp landed there was 1 x 30 & 22 x 20’s (of which 8 were upper 20’s)

The top fish for the week were: 36 lb, 29.12 lb, 29.8 lb & 29 lb.

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s nineteenth week saw Kees Schilder from Lutjebroek, Holland (fishing his second week) joined by his son in Law Chris Schouten and also the arrival of Barrie Topley (aged 70) and Albert Kitson (aged 75) from Derby.

The weather was very hot and pressure was high which meant most of the catches were happening at night. Albert decided not to fish nights and only fished daylight hours.
Between the 4 of them they caught 45 carp totalling just over 1000 lb.

Kees fished his first week in Harrier, he only fished 2 nights over the first week as he had hired the Gite for him and his wife. His second week he was joined by his son-in-law (Chris Schouten) and he moved to Kestrel. Kees also took a few days out sightseeing and experiencing the local culture.
He finished his 2 weeks landing himself 15 carp totalling 337 lb 4 oz, his biggest was 31 lb 14 oz.
Kees fished with Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn and tiger nuts (both over beds of pellet or tiger nuts)

Chris joined Kees on Saturday and fished until Friday and opted to fish in Hawk. He landed himself 17 fish totalling 369 lb 8 oz, most of his fish came out during the hours of darkness. His largest carp over the week was 34 lb 8 oz.
Chris fished mainly tiger nuts, he also caught on Trigga (lake specials) and a cocktail of maize and tiger nut, all this over beds of pellet and tiger nuts.

Barrie started his first day in Harrier and then moved to Owl on his second day. All but 2 of Barrie’s fish came during the hours of darkness. He landed himself 10 fish over the week totalling 219 lb 14 oz with his biggest being 27 lb.
Barrie fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with fake corn over beds of pellet ad boilies, his catches picked up at the end of the week when he decided to start his night sessions with 10 kilo of pellet and a kilo of 15mm boilies spread over his 3 spots.

Albert decided he liked his sleep too much to fish the nights, unfortunately due to the heat it did mean that his catch rate was slow and he landed himself 3 fish over the week, the biggest being a 31 lb common. He was happy none the less considering he didn’t really fish for big carp and his biggest to date had been around 7 lb.

Of the 45 carp landed there was 3 x 30’s & 31 x 20’s (of which 7 were upper 20’s)

The top fish for the week were: 34.8 lb, 31.14 lb & 31 lb Common.

Here are a few of the fish from the week.

Etang de Planchon’s twentieth week saw Andy & Sam Lane, from Wirral, arrive for their fifth visit and it also saw the arrival of David Johnson and his son Josh (aged 9) from Hull.

The weather has continued to be hot and the pressure was still high which again meant that most of the catches were happening late evening and through the night.
Andy & Sam were here for just 5 days, David & Josh were here for 6 days, Josh was only fishing 1 rod.
Between them they caught 28 carp totalling just over 690 lb.

Andy & Sam had previously fished the right side of the lake on all previous 4 visits, this time they fancied a changed and opted for the left side, Andy in Buzzard and Sam in Hawk.
Andy fished Trigga (Lake Specials) topped with Mega corn, he landed himself 11 carp over the week with his biggest being 31 lb 12 oz.
Sam fished the same and landed just 4 fish this trip, his biggest being 26 lb 4 oz.
They are both back in October and then the opening week of 2013.

David & Josh were here for their first trip to France, David’s other half (Melissa) had bought it as a present for him and she was with them in the bivvys.
David fished Trigga (lake specials) topped with various flavoured fake corn and landed himself 12 fish over the week. His first fish to land on the bank was a 37 lb 4 oz mirror which added 20 lb’s to his UK PB, not content with landing it just once, he landed the same fish later in the week.
Josh was fishing just 1 rod and in between playing with the dogs he managed to land 1 carp and his smile on the photo said it all as it weighed in at 30 lb 14 oz. Unfortunately he did lose 1 near the net as well.
They are all returning in April next year.

Of the 28 carp landed there was 4 x 30’s & 20 x 20’s (of which 5 were upper 20’s)

The top fish for the week were: 37.4 lb, 37.4 lb, 31.12 lb & 30.14 lb.

Here are a few of the fish from the week.
