Bait size - Important? Empty

How important is bait size?

Do you prefer using larger baits, ie (20mm plus) or smaller baits, maybe even down to 10mm or smaller.

Does it really matter?

If you put a quality food item in front of a hungry carp would it eat it whatever the size?

I've been thinking of really scaling down my baits to even "little bitty" size this year just to try the change, like trimming away boilies to pea size, but i'm thinking will it really make a difference.

Thoughts?

i prefer 10mm and 20mm..why because most ppl use the sizes in between!! btbh, the place im fishing is at present long chucks,so the 20mms can go a long way in the stick, but if i get the spomb out or bag up, i like the 10mm, theres other reasons but too many to mention.
